Illustrator & 2D Animator

I am a Manchester based Illustrator & 2D Animator originally from Sofia, Bulgaria. My intention as an artist is to tell visual stories inspired by and based on cultural heritage, mythology, folklore and fairytales. 

So far I have worked with Usborne Publishing, Vigmostad & Bjørke, Flow Creative, Focal Studios, Culture Liverpool & Scottish Heritage Fund. 

 

As an artist growing up in Eastern Europe and developing professionally in the UK, I create work that combines my experiences of belonging to two very contrasting worlds.  I am fascinated by culture, therefore my work is strongly influenced by my cultural background and childhood memories, elements of which I combine with stories from Bulgaria, as well as stories from around the world, aiming to pay tribute to and celebrate other cultures different to mine. 

My illustrations & animations are a personal interpretation of the way I see and understand the diverse nature of cultural identity.

 

At present, I am a Senior Lecturer in Illustration with Animation at Manchester School of Art and continue my practice as an animator and illustrator freelance.
